Koo....I realize what I posted was a bit bombastic, but it is what I believe. Yes, I attend worship almost every Sunday....but not this past Sunday because my church is complying with the new normal. It was either the Thursday or Friday prior that we had a soup tasting event put on by the youth group, awarding the Golden Ladle....I have an awesome church family. I have also volunteered to go grocery shopping for vulnerable members of our community who are isolating....I'll go get the groceries and then ring the bell and step back....coughing into my sleeve, washing my hands several times a day while singing happy birthday twice so that I know its at least 20 or so seconds.
But shutting down our entire economy? I also have 3 kids....and we're borrowing money at Biblical proportions to fight this. My aging rear end isn't going to have to pay for this, its my kids who will be saddled with it. When boomers were going to university in Canada tuition costs were dirt cheap, and for those who still couldn't afford to go there were grants, not loans that needed to be paid back....grants, free money. Now we can't afford that anymore....tuition and associated costs have exploded.
Sorry man....I'm with the kids on this one. Be compassionate, be kind, be helpful, love your neighbour....but don't destroy our entire society to do it. Those who are vulnerable, isolate absolutely...and Christians and others of faith should be there to help, its what we are called to do.
