While there will certainly be some major losers, this Covid-19 crisis is also creating some big winners as well. Amazon is apparently booming, workers are reportedly now allowed cell phones and are subject to other rules being laxed, but absentism is leaving those who do come in with an increased workload.
Ours is a conusmer culture, and if people can't get out to shop they'll do more on line....Wal-Mart has likewise seen increases in on-line orders and obviously grocery delivery. In Canada Loblaws is giving those who stock the shelves a 15% premium during the crisis....
You can still drive up at Timmies and McDees....but the local privately owned little coffee shop or diner is likely closed. SMEs are going to be the biggest losers imo....when this is over I'm going to make an extra effort to shop local and to patronize small businesses.
