JJ ... always appreciate your thoughtful posts, as well as those of others for their differing opinions. Yeah, this Covid-19 is a "pita" ...
There are so many options for a company like RVX, for a deal: 1) discounted cash/stock offer for part/all, 2) deeply discounted cash/stock offer up front, with earn-out over 3-10 years for milestones, 3) a BP development "partnership" with cash infusion, and a buy out triggered by milestones with various valuations for development over time.
So many ways to skin this cat, would imagine a pretty customized deal would be put together to mend the gap between a "safe" buy for BP, and the off-the-hook "prove it" potential of apabetalone and the rest of the library.
It is easy to see why a BP would want to low ball ($1-2b?) an unproven company albeit with promise, and also why RVX would want to hold out as long as possible for some milestones leading closer to RVX's enormous "potential" and $8-10b ... theoretically, for examples.
This Covid-19 thing bites. It is not a help for timing, focus, risk, or financial benefits, unless apabetalone somehow does make a splash with the virus and it accelerates visibility and value. Still think something should be happening and known soon, just seems like something has to happen, one way or another.
I don't take pulling out of NKF as a bad "sign" or bad thing necessarily either ... except is stimulates we kids in the back seat to continually asking for updates ... "are we there yet, are we there yet"
