Doom and gloom or meh....

I've been reading a fair amount on this outbreak, with particular focus on projected fatalities. I really don't care about the infection rate because so many people who are asymptomatic will never be tested. There was a report in the Financial Times citing an Oxford study that says up to 50% of Britain's population may already have been infected and recovered....
A similar cause for optimism is Nobel Prize winner Michael Levitt who accurately predicted the peak of the Chinese outbreak. He's now saying the pandemic will end "soon".
On the other side of the spectrum is the report put out by the Imperial College of London's Covid-19 Response team. Their research is predicting over 1 million deaths in the United States alone, with their models saying that's only assuming that everyone in need of critical care receives it....and even more sobering, the 1+ million prediction is based on the current actions being taken, social distancing and school closures. In their model doing nothing would double the death toll....
I do hope the more optimistic scenarios are on the money....but that will cause a problem for Trump's legion of haters, (of which I'm a nominal non card carrying member) because the POTUS is already starting to dial down the rhetoric. Trump fans will applaud him if it turns out that things are nowhere near as bad as predicted.
