On Global's facebook page I commented on an article about Pfizer being perhaps unhappy with the unpcoming probe into the Liberal government's handling of the pandemic. Here's what I wrote:
Why are we handing 10s and maybe even 100s of millions in taxpayer dollars over to foreign pharma companies developing vaccines which ultimately may not work or not work for more than a small % of the population.
Why not invest in some Canadian pharma companies and therapeutics that can help in the here and now for those who are falling seriously ill with Covid? Apabetalone is a phase 3 drug being touted in publications as having the potential to mediate the effects of a cytokine storm.
Is it because the company developing Apabetalone is in Conservative dominated Alberta and not Montreal?
From the 'Science Direct' publication:
After removal of drugs having undesirable drug-drug interactions we select 7 drugs and one natural product: apabetalone, romidepsin, silmitasertib, ozanezumab, procaine, azacitidine, amlexanox, volociximab, and ellagic acid, whose combinations can palliate the organs and systems found to be damaged by COVID-19. We found that at least 4 drugs are needed to treat all the multiorgan damages, for instance: the combination of romidepsin, silmitasertib, apabetalone and azacitidine.
