I've always looked at the order book through bullish rose colored glasses.....we all know about Iceberg orders now.  How what is visible is not necessarily the entirity of what is either avialable to be bought, or conversely that all the visible bids is 100% of the actual bids.

While it might look like the number of shares available is thin, it is possible that there are hidden orders that can't be seen.
