The devil is always in the details narmac.....Between July 1, 2019 and June 30, 2020, there were 300,314 deaths reported in Canada....so that is one year. According to what I have read we were expecting 7.803 deaths per 1,000 of population in 2020.....which would put 2020 all cause mortality in and around 296,000 for a population of 38 million.
A little bit of an apple and an orange comparison....starting in July 2019 and going through to June 2020.....According to StatsCan From January to October 2020, there were an estimated 241,257 deaths in Canada, representing an excess of 10,090 deaths over what was expected. Deaths from drug overdoses in BC have reportedly doubled, and there has been a significant spike in suicide, especially among youth.
So how many lives were saved in keeping people from getting covid, and how many lives were cost trying to keep people from getting covid? It's an academic question that we'll be pouring over for a decade, maybe more.
Leaving that aside.....~50,000 people are dying in this country each and every year from CVD.....although for this past year that number may drop, as people have their deaths attributed to Covid-19 instead of heart diseases.
With today's news maybe we will see 208 giving an emergency or interim use authroization in short order, but I doubt it.
