I'm not sure I understand you here, sidebar. If the trial has started, it's likely that it is a double-blind controlled study, in which case nobody will know the outcome until it's finished. Even if it's open label, they'll have to continue until its finished, except perhaps where a difference is seen between the treated and untreated patients that is highly significant part way through.
