Also, even if Apabetalone can cure covid or mitigate severity, longer term blinded trials would probably be needed to establish prevention or mitigation of longer term effects on heart, lungs, kidneys, metabolic health, etc 

I think we should be careful about over-interpreting Don's wishful comment about walking out of the hospital cured in two days. I would of course be thrilled with results like that, but i think Don was being a bit wishful/hopeful/waxing poetic to make a point when he said that. 

Also ... it is possible that Apabetalone could prevent long term effects but not actually cure cases. I hope that the trial design will allow fir some sort of continuation to evaluate multiple questions before concluding non- impact, but a strictly 4 week trial may not do that. Especially since one of the reasons this drug is safe is the reversability of its effects. Would patiebts need to stay on the drug long term fir such effects to last or will it be sufficient to be on it during the initial illness period only. I am not sure whether we know. 

There are so many permutations and situations where thus compound could be beneficial, but capturing/evaluating them all in this study may or may not prove feasible.
