"That's a presumption I am not prepared to embrace, fully. We know already the vaccines aren't 100% effective against getting ill from Covid. I would prefer apabetalone with its 100% inhibition and added therapeutic benefits."
The Pfizer/BioNTech and Moderna mRNA vaccines are amazingly effective, even against every known variant to date. And the two mRNA vaccines are incredibly safe. Some of the other vaccines, including the other two major vaccines in Europe and US (Astrazeneca and Johnson &Johnson), seem to have less overall efficacy and/or less effective against some of the variants. But overall, these are all excellent options for reducing risk of infection, transmission and importantly reducing COVID-disease severity, hospitalization and death. There really is no argument.
Importantly, there is zero evidence of apabetalone efficacy against SARS-CoV2 infection and COVID-19 disease severity in human clinical trials. You just cannot draw ANY comparison between vaccine efficacy and apabetalone at this point in time for SARS-Cov2/COVID-19 outcomes. Let me repeat.....there is zero clinical evidence in humans of apabetalone effiacy against SARS-Cov2/COVID-19. Pre-clinical results are encouraging, but are no guarantee that apabetalone will have any success against SARS-Cov2/COVID-19 in humans.
