I get that stood up might not be the right description as no confirmation was received but it still begs the question, why was a confirmation not received. It sounds like he did what was necessary and was given a time and link with only the confirmation pending. That appears to me that he should have received some sort or confirmation or rejection. It doesn't appear to have been handled well.

Maybe it's like dating sites.  If she doesn't respond, you have your answer.
