VAUDREUIL-DORION, QUEBEC--(Marketwire - Feb. 4, 2010) - Rocmec Mining inc. (the « company ») (TSX VENTURE:RMI) (FRANKFURT:D5O) is pleased to announce preliminary diamond drill results from its 2009 diamond drill campaign at its Rocmec 1 gold property, located in Rouyn-Noranda, Quebec.

Hole RS-02-09

The analytical results received are from the second surface diamond drill hole RS-02-09 located 5943mE and 2442mN (local grid) with azimuth at 325 degrees North and a 45 degree dip (local grid coordinates). The objective of the drill hole was designed to intercept the Boucher zone located to the west of the property. Four (4) mineralised structures were intercepted in the diamond drill hole. The samples from the mineralised quartz veins returned grades of 7.4 g/t Au over 0.65m and 25.79 g/t Au over 0.25m.

McDowell Structure:

The McDowell structure was intersected from 179.95m to 181.75m (core length) in a strongly altered (biotite-calcite-chlorite) diorite. The apparently sheared interval is highlighted by the presence of calcite in shistosity plans. Mineralization consists of fine grained pyrite bands in deformed calcite-quartz veins and veinlets. The wall rock hosts disseminated pyrite. Encountered grades were 4.12 g/t Au over 1.8m including 12.19g/t Au over 0.45m (vein).

McDowell Structure 2:

A similar structure to the McDowell structure was intersected from 182.65m to 184.56m (core length) in a strongly altered diorite (biotite-calcite-chlorite). Encountered grades were 25.79 g/t Au over 0.25m (vein).

Boucher 1 Structure

The Boucher 1 structure was intersected from 290.5m to 291.5m (core length) in a brecciated and strongly altered and sheared diorite. The mineralization consists of fine disseminated pyrite in the deformed quartz-carbonate vein that has undergone mylonitization and boudinage in the shear zone. Encountered grades were 1.43 g/t Au over 1.0m including 0.63g/t Au over 0.5m and 2.23g/t Au over 0.5m.

Boucher 2 Structure

The Boucher 1 and the Boucher 2 structures are similar. The Boucher 2 structure was intersected from 299.02m to 299.84m (core length) in a strongly altered and sheared diorite. The mineralization consists of fine disseminated pyrite in the deformed quartz-carbonate vein that has undergone mylonitization and boudinage in the shear zone (less than Boucher 1). Encountered grades were 0.94 g/t Au over 0.82m including 1.24g/t Au over 0.5m and 0.46g/t Au over 0.32m.

Hole RS-03-09

The analytical results received are from the third surface diamond drill hole RS-03-09 located 5943mE and 2442mN (local grid) with azimuth at 325 degrees North and a 45 degree dip. The objective of the drill hole was designed to intercept the Boucher zone located to the west of the property. Six (6) mineralised structures were intercepted in the diamond drill hole. The samples from the mineralised quartz veins returned grades of 7.16 g/t Au over 0.12m, 7.28 g/t Au over 0.50m, 8.22 g/t Au over 0.57m and 6.67 g/t Au over 0.20m

Front West Vein

The Front West vein was intersected from 81.15m to 81.35m (core length) in an altered diorite (biotite-calcite-chlorite). The interval consists of a mineralized 10 cm wide quartz-calcite veinlet. The mineralization consists of fine to coarse grained pyrite bands in contact with the wall rock. Encountered grade was 6.67 g/t Au over 0.20m including mineralized wall rock.

McDowell Structure:

The McDowell structure was intersected from 195.36m to 195.97m (core length) in a strongly altered (biotite-calcite-chlorite) diorite. The apparently sheared interval is highlighted by the presence of calcite in shistosity plans. Mineralization consists of fine grained pyrite bands in deformed calcite-quartz veins and veinlets. The wall rock hosts disseminated pyrite. Encountered grades were 2.93 g/t Au over 0.61m including 3.48 g/t Au over 0.25m and 2.55 g/t Au over 0.36m (vein).

McDowell Structure 2:

A structure associated to the McDowell structure was intersected from 1196.15m to 197.94m (core length) in a strongly altered diorite (biotitic-calcite-chlorite). The interval consists of two cent metrical medium to coarse grained pyrite bands following foliation. Encountered grades were 1.08 g/t Au over 0.45m and 1.43g/t Au over 0.46m.

Boucher 1 Structure

The Boucher 1 structure was intersected from 357.75m to 358.56m (core length) in shear zone crosscutting the diorite. The diorite is brecciated, strongly altered and has undergone mylonitization. The mineralization consists of fine disseminated pyrite in the deformed quartz-carbonate vein that has undergone boudinage. Encountered grades were 1.13 g/t Au over 0.81m including 7.16 g/t Au over 0.12m and 0.08 g/t Au over 0.69m.

Boucher 2 Structure

The Boucher 1 and the Boucher 2 structures are similar. The Boucher 2 structure was intersected from 375.42m to 376.99m (core length) in a shear zone crosscutting the strongly altered and sheared andesite that has undergone mylonitisation(less than Boucher 1). The mineralization consists of fine disseminated pyrite in the deformed quartz-carbonate vein that has boudinage. Encountered grades were de 5.68 g/t Au over 1.57m including 7.28 g/t Au over 0.50m and 8.22 g/t Au over 0.57m.

Quality control

The technical information of this press release and the diamond drill campaign was conducted under the supervision of Maxime Dupéré geo. from SGS Canada Inc., a qualified person under the guidelines of National Instrument 43-101. The NQ size core samples were sawed in half, one half kept as reference and the other half sent for analysis (samples measuring less than 22cm were photographed before being completely sampled). The samples were analysed at the SGS Lakefield laboratory, located in Lakefield, Ontario following the 30g Fire Assay metallic screen method. The SGS Lakefield analytical lab follows strict protocols and procedures including the systematic insertion of reference materials, re-assay checks and blanks. The mentioned grades are average grades. The mentioned lengths correspond to lengths measured longhole.

Also subject to final approval from the TSX Venture Exchange, Rocmec announces that the board of directors, within the framework of the company's Stock Option Purchase Plan granted 200,000 share purchase options of Rocmec stock to Mr Jacques Proulx new Vice-President of Operations for Canada (See press release dated January 10th 2010).
