San Gold Commences High Grade Hinge Zone Development |
BISSETT, MB--(Marketwire - April 08, 2009) - Dale Ginn, President of San Gold Corporation (TSX-V: SGR), is pleased to report that decline development has accessed the Hinge Zone and has commenced drifting in the zones at 350 feet (107 m) below surface in preparation for bulk sampling. Over 230 feet (70 m) has been developed so far in the mineralized zone with face samples averaging 1.03 oz/ton (35.2 g/tonne) over an average true width of 10.3 feet (3.2 m). Individual face grades have assayed up to 2.52 oz/ton (86.3 g/tonne) over a true width of 12.0 feet (3.7 m) with visible gold being routinely observed throughout. Level development continues in both the east and west directions as well as in numerous vein offshoots while incline and decline development is ongoing in order to access the zones at levels above and below the 350 foot level.
23 development faces as well as slashes and walls were chip sampled resulting in a total of 163 samples assayed for gold with individual values ranging from 0.01 oz/ton (0.34 g/tonne) to 10.14 oz/ton (347.3 g/tonne). All assays are uncut, with capping if required to be determined as a part of the bulk sampling process.
The Hinge zones at the 350 foot level consist of an east and a west zone that are separated by approximately 100 feet. The strike length of each has not yet been determined, as well, numerous vein offshoots have been encountered during development. Mineralization consisting of pyrite and free gold are hosted by quartz-carbonate-tourmaline veins within mafic to intermediate tuffs and flows. Sericite and chlorite alteration halos surround the veining within a tight range. The veining exhibits dips to the north west in a range of 50 to 80 degrees and observed ground conditions are excellent to date with no natural water inflow. Over 3,000 tons of Hinge material has been stockpiled to date with mill testing to begin later this month as a batch process completely separate from Rice Lake Mine ore.
Please consult the plan map of the 350 foot level showing geology and assay data along with assay data tables for each face at the company's website www.sangoldcorp.com.
