My reason for holding San is exactly as you just said Lunch. Some people on the board talk about keeping their core position and trading the rest. I have made San Gold my core position and trade all the others. Lots of volatility and big moves on quality investment grade companies. Who ever would have thought you could buy 500 shares of a bank or big oil and sell it the same day and make a grand. I think (if we have been given accurate info so far) that San Gold fits the bill of a defensive play. As a growth company, with blue sky potential it should do OK in a declining market, and if we ever get the major move in gold we are hoping for(as it only makes sense)we should do very well. I am a lot more patient with SGR than my wife, and I accept the" reasons" we have discussed for the lack of news. The reasons are running a little thin with my significant other however, and I am running out of "excuses" as to why it is a good hold.
PS
I was wonderind about house #14 they we active on Friday on the sell side and are at it again today. They are ITG and if you google them, they talk about how they can sell without information leakage and are able to match up trades on different markets etc. The thing that caught my attention was the fact that they have all the major brokerage houses as clients and can move shares anonymously. Of course there can be all sorts of reasons for that, however I am hoping someone can give me a little more insight.
