I have given this a little bit of thought and it is just another clandestine method for the Chinese government to rid themselves of US Greenbacks. Sell gold to your citizens in remnibi and then go to the gold markets and use your Stockpile of US dollars to buy more gold. This is a win win because they can get rid of US dollars . By converting the remnibi to dollars to buy gold internationally they actually strenghthen the us dollar visa vie their own currency.
