The perfect fit is obviously G for any number of reasons. If another offer came in, G would be forced to counter but until that happens they'll just sit tight and keep an eye on things while exploration continues to define more ore bodies.
Goodman is probably making sure his investment pulls in a full return both short and long term. His cost of capital on early financings had to come with a price and maybe keeping the SGR SP pegged to his performance expectations came with some terms for the BOD, like tell the people what they want to hear and a managed price performance.
McEwen could be the fly in the ointment for Goodman and possibly the catalyst to get this thing moving and as Agnico forced G's hand on GEA, the more connections with possible suitors the better.
