Appears the 1st day of trading on the TSX was like meeting the in-laws for the first time - I little awkward. The bid/ask spread was a few cents at times. The 'new' market maker feeling out the SGR... a spread of a few pennies at times... DJ would make the market at a board lot (100 shs) on the bid / ask at times, thus the swing of a nickle / dime within no time.
From my understanding, the market maker is always obliged to take on all odd lots (<100 sh) and given the trading activty, post a competivie bid/ask - even though its a 100shs when there is no liquid market at a given moment. Buying / selling odd lots at this price is a mystery to me. IMO the predicable factor for SGR trading is the # buyres vs sellers vs the action of the market maker.
that's the way i say the trading today
