I find it odd that the POG goes up over $1400 on a day when no NA markets are open so the PM companies don't benefit but 'falls' to $1400 the next day and most PM's are down from levels pre-$1400. Then again, most stocks, period, are down.

I agree. I think a lot of the PM stocks are traded on PM price movement, not necessarily on the price level. Traders don't want to get on the wrong side of the short-term trend, since the prices are so volatile.
