Interesting assertion that the world is now (always was) on gold standard. All the paper is just a form of derivative, sometimes massively diluted.

Why should that be exclusively the domain of gold? Wouldn't it apply (all at differing exchange rates) to all non-perishable hard assets? Say, rather than gold standard, a "commodity standard"?
