Maybe the reason is that it is easier to spin the story later. Without having asked the question in the proper forum, any analyst with an agenda can pose the question without an answer for maximum effect.
At this price level, there does not appear to be much of a gain in shorting a stock that is down this much. But if the share price were to rise, it could be suppressed later using the above scenario.
We will see. The next round of talking heads will be hitting the BNN circuit with their agendas once earnings have been fully reported and analyzed. Right now the story is focused on the BlackBerry 'sale', which could give us some calm for the next week or so.
