Adolfo Vera
Chief Financial Officer
Mr. Adolfo Vera has held a number of senior management positions in his career, including among others, as a Managing Director of BNP Paribas responsible for Peru and the Andean region, and most recently as CFO and CIO of a major publicly traded mining company in Peru. He holds a degree in Industrial Engineering from the University of Lima in Peru and an M.B.A. from Queen's University in Canada. In addition to fluency in English and Spanish, he speaks French and Portuguese. Mr. Vera will be based in the Company's head office in Toronto.
Dr. Christopher Hodgson
Vice President of Exploration & Qualified Person
Dr. Hodgson has been an independent geological consultant for the past 7 years specializing primarily in the evaluation of exploration and mining projects in Latin America, Canada, and the USA. He previously held the position of Vice-President of Exploration with Canamax Resources, and has also held the position of exploration manager with mining companies in Canada and Chile. Dr. Hodgson holds a Ph.D. in Geology from McGill University, Montreal, Quebec. He is a member of the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of British Columbia; a member of the Canadian Institute of Mining, Metallurgy and Petroleum; and, a fellow of the Society of Economic Geologists.
John W. W. Hick
Chairman of the Board
Mr. Hick joined the Board of Silver Eagle in March of 2006. He has over 20 years of executive management experience in the mining industry and, most recently, was the CEO of Rio Narcea Gold Mines Ltd. from December 2004 to January 2006. From 2001 Mr. Hick was President and CEO of Defiance Mining Corp. and its predecessor company, until it was acquired by Rio Narcea in 2004. Mr. Hick is also a Director of Carpathian Gold Inc., First Uranium Corp., Hudson Resources Inc., Revett Minerals Inc., and Western Keltic Mines Inc.
Javier Aguirre Sanchez
Director
Mr. Aguirre received an Electical Engineering degree from the University Collegio Cristobal, Colon, Mexico. He has business experience in Mexico spanning more than 35 years including extensive union negotiations, and is the owner of a contracting company in Torreon, Mexico. His mining experience started in 1966 with copper exploration and expanded to silver exploration in 1969 and, in 1992, he worked on the strategic planning for the reopening district of Cerro de Mercado in Durango State, Mexico. He worked for state governors as District Assistant. Since 1969 he has been President and General Director of several general contracting companies. Mr. Aguirre is the owner and operator of a contracting company in Torreon, Mexico. He was a former Olympic athlete who held the Mexican record for the 100 metre sprint for many years
Kenneth G. Byberg
Director
Mr. Byberg is one of the original founders of A.J. Resources Inc., the predecessor company to Silver Eagle Mines. Educated at the Haileybury School of Mines and Laurentian University, Mr. Byberg has over 30 years of engineering and production experience. From 1967 to 1981, he was employed by Inco Metals and held positions in research, engineering, and operations. As Chief Mine Engineer and Mine Superintendent of Noranda's Geco Mine, from 1981 through 1992, he was responsible for a $23 million dollar budget for a 1.5 million tonne per year underground mine and 250 employees. Mr. Byberg has served on and chaired several industry-related boards, including the Mine Industry Research Organization of Canada (MIROC), the Mining Legislative Review Committee, and the Hardrock Research Group. He is also president and co-owner of two private Canadian companies and has served on a number of non-industry boards.
