New photos on web site, and a question

Check out the SFMI web site. There are some new photo galleries related to bringing down ore from the mountain.

Something occured to me in looking through the photo galleries. The piles of ore on the mountain are huge, and still pretty obvious. Yet I remember something about some of the mine openings being "lost"- I think it was the Belle Peck adit that was "rediscovered" by the dog (who seems to be in quite a lot of the photos- wonder what they're paying him?). But how could the adits be lost if there are huge piles of ore at the openings? Couldn't you just pick them out by looking at an aerial photograph? I can't imagine that there were any adits with no piles outside- it would have been too much work to move ore that wasn't going to be processed, and every shaft must have had a lot of lesser grade (< 2 oz/t) ore that wasn't worth moving. Just a thought...
