I actually knew of Eike Batista, but didn't know much about him. Here is what I found interesting.

Eike Batista, Brazil's richest man, #7 on Forbes list. Batista vows to one day overtake Carlos Slim of Mexico as the world's richest man. He's got quite a ways to go to catch up.

I'm sure most on this board are aware of the purchase he made a year ago to take private Canadian-listed VentanaGold, which owns what he says is an incredibly promising mine in Colombia. He paid $1.2M in cash for the remaining 80 percent of the company he didn't own. That comes out to $370/per oz of gold, which is considered low due to difficult to get to deposits and because Ventana's operations are in the early stages.

Eike Batista’s Ventana has resources approximated to include 3.5 million ounces of gold, 84.6 million ounces of silver and 19.2 million ounces of copper. Ventana is also developing a coal mining operation in the area.

The estimated resources sound similar to SFMI, if not, lower. Also, it looks like he was accumlulating shares over time until he got to 20%. He used a company called 63X Master Fund to acquire the shares.

The most interesting piece...

The offer was made just a week after the company released positive results from a resource study of its Colombian gold project

...things COULD happen quickly.

However, you would think the current share price would be rising if it were close.
