According to SFMI, the flotation system should extract essentially all of the PMs, and reduce the volume by 90%. That's what they mean when they say it will reduce the 30k tons of stored processed ore down to 3k tons. According to them, all of the PMs will then be in the 3k tons, and the other 27 tons can be discarded (buried out back of the mill). Then only the 3k tons will be run through the leach system. The advantage here is that only the 3k tons is leached with cyanide and considered "hazardous" and has to be sent to the waste disposal facility. The cost for that is under $1/t (I think .50/ton was mentioned at the meeting), or ~$1500, an insignificant amount.
