Yes, it would take a long time to prove up 10M oz to 43-101 standards if they were starting from scratch. But they are not starting from scratch. They have an enormous amount of information on the prior production, as well as the extent and grade of the veins. As I have mentioned before, if they can show that the veins on top that have already produced so much are still rich down to Sinker tunnel level, it doesn't take much to figure out that there is a lot of gold there- maybe not exactly how much, and maybe not up to 43-101 standards, but still a lot. Remember, it was previous geological work and production data that led to the relatively recent estimates of 3M oz and up. Any major has their own in house geos to evaluate the information, and they will know exactly what 3.5 oz or more at Sinker level implies. The main reason a 43-101 would be needed would be to convince a funding source, since most of them would require a 43-101. But a major that could self-finance a buyout doesn't need a 43-101.
