Pic- Go back and reread my post. My comment was that SFMI will not be solidly connected to gold and silver prices until they get their act together, i.e. until SFMI has shown that the price of gold is relevant to their stock price. Right now the price of gold has less to do with their price than whether or not they can get funding, bring in experienced and competent personnel, get their act together, confirm the reserves of gold, and demonstrate that they can get it out.
And even if what we think will happen occurs, that SFMI will turn out to be a very low cost producer (which should be the case if the grades are indeed measured in ounces instead of grams), then SFMI's leverage to the price of gold will be much lower than most producers. For many miners, the production costs per ounce are up around $1200, so a move in the price of gold from $1300 to $1400 will double their profits. If SFMI's costs are around $200-300 as has been estimated, then a move in the price of gold from $1300 to $1400 only increases their profit by 10% or so.
Wake me up when gold hits new highs? Exactly! We have seen gold manipulated and slammed from those previous highs down to where it is now. And they can and will do it again if it makes the banksters even more money. I've heard for years that at some point they'll lose the ability to manipulate prices, but it hasn't happened yet. Until I see concrete evidence that manipulation has ended (or at least been reduced to insignificance), then I'm not going to count on any leverage that can be destroyed at any time. Right now my main concern is whether SFMI gets new blood and funding to prove up reserves and gets started pulling new ore out of the ground. Worrying about leverage and whether they'll make $1000 or $1100 or even $1500 per ounce is way down on my list of concerns.
As far as off topic posts, I've been quite lenient as far as stuff related to precious metals, and relevant economic posts. But this is not a forum for purely political rants, especially completely off topic ones or angry ones where anyone who doesn't agree with them is labelled a moron. There are other places for that, in fact ihub has a number of boards where posts like that would be quite welcome.
