Last week I flew home to New Hampshire from California. It took me 27 hours. Flights are being cancelled or delayed everywhere due to fuel prices. The pilots are up in arms because the airlines are asking them to load up with less fuel than the pilots feel is sufficient to make the flights safely in case they end up having to circle a while before being able to land or have to be rerouted to a different airport. The small airport I departed from announced that they will probably be closing down due to cost. They are not the only ones and eventually only the hub airports will be running and the delays will only get worse. Not to mention the inconvenience to the traveler having to make arrangements to get to their final destination from these airports. You might have to leave on Halloween to get home for Thanksgiving. (Exaggeration, but not far from the truth).
