Just recently i asked a Fidelity that question. I said , are my shares registered in my name or street name. He said street name. Then i said whose name is street name, then he said we like to keep them in street name for convenience to the customer. THen he said i can assure you that your shares will not be loaned out. Before i hung up i asked him how far do i have to go to get someone who can fulfill a simple moral and ethical request. He thought that was funny. We parted on good terms but never with a satisfying reply.
