You can no longer get a stock certificate for stocks traded on the U.S. stock exchange. If you are with a full commission brokerage house you can request to have your Silverado shares registered in your name

My thinking is, the U.S. govenrment is moving quickly to shut all doors for flight of capital from the country. If you have all your wealth tied-up in stocks and you have the certificates in hand, It would be to easy to hide them in a breif case when leaving the country. One could walk into any broerage house in the world and cash them.
