I thought it was closer to Fairbanks, and I have been there a few times when the Bassit Hospital was under construction on the Army base.

I stayed at Sophies Station each time, the bartender I think was named Joe, and he was born and raised in Fairbanks. This guy is very knowledgable about the area obviously. Give him a cal...LOL!!!
