You can earn activity points by filling your profile with information about yourself (what city you live in, your favorite team, blogs etc.)
The link I sent is all they do...report legal short positions. If the numbers varied +/- 5% on a daily basis, I would not keep harping the point. Maybe silveradomanmi can shed some light on this.
