Good article Dischino. This week I had the misfortune of having a couple of precious patients in their early 60's die only weeks apart in Nov. 10 -15 years ago Garry, a head car mechanic at a local Ford dealer, won a $ 2.2M 649 Lottery. He retired instantly but then the problems started. One heck of a nice guy, with no children, he got instantly bombarded from relatives, friends & investment dealers on how to spend his winnings.
He had to get a private telephone - his blood pressure had already been high. Within 2 -3 yrs his wife got breast cancer. In the last year he also got prostate & bladder cancer. 3 months ago he had to have his left leg amputated above the knee and the the cancer had already spread to his ribs - alas. He was buried this on Monday just weeks after his wife died.
Conclusions:
1) Never ENVY anyone - no, be happy for them because one never know how short lived their happiness may be.
2) Stress is a major factor in many cancers - keep life simple, don't worry about the Jones & enjoy each day.
