When Holder gave his speech, one would think many of these types would curtail fraudulant practices right? The investigation was 10 years in the making, which had to involve under cover operations, paid snitches, and people copping a deal to snitch and avoid prosecution right? At least that's how law enforcement operates and we hear about this all the time. That's how the top mob figures were taken down......capiche?
Once again, it's about money, power and greed. These types often feel they are above the law, sheltered and protected by having high level people in their hip pocket.
When the sub prime mortgage mess took down Wall St, it exposed the corruption. Nobody could hide, so the guilty turned into "rats" to save their own hide.
The DOJ has unleashed their plan, and are going for the throat, doing what needs to be done and make a name for themselves in the process. The sting of all stings is marching forward.
Naked shorting is only one of many aspects to this mess, and it was not until 2008 the SEC did anything about it!!! What conclusion should we draw from that?
Mafia...hahahaha....far more complex than that.
Remember this from Cheers?
Well you see, Norm, it’s like this… A herd of buffalo can only move as fast as the
slowest buffalo. And when the herd is hunted, it is the slowest and weakest ones at the
back that are killed first. This natural selection is good for the herd as a whole, because
the general speed and health of the whole group keeps improving by the regular killing of
the weakest members.
In much the same way, the human brain can only operate as fast as the slowest brain
cells. Now, as we know, excessive intake of alcohol kills brain cells. But naturally, it
attacks the slowest and weakest brain cells first. In this way, regular consumption of beer
eliminates the weaker brain cells, making the brain a faster more efficient machine. And
that, Norm, is why you always feel smarter after a few beers.”
So with securities fraud, the weak get slaughtered at first, it protects the top dog until the squeeze is on, then the higher level begins to squirm, cop a deal, and give up the leaders. It's just a matter of time that the DOJ will lay the hammer down.
I have a bet with my friend, after showing him this article in Jan-2010, that by the end of 2012, all the cards will be face up. He's been retired 5 years, worked gang detail for 21, and he thinks it will take longer. Who ever wins, gets a free lunch...LOL.
My conclusion is this.....when the right news hits the street from Silverado, and I don't mean fluff and repeats, no chum being thrown in the H20, IMO the buying pressure with some big money sitting on the side lines, will drive the price rapidly, it will have legs, and the games will be over.
All of this of course is my opinion, except what Cliff said...LOL!!!
