Folks, If you aren't concerned about this, it must be because it hasn't happened to your bank yet ! To give you an idea of how bad it is: only 27 banks closed between 2000 and 2007, with 11 closing in 2002 after Sept.11, 2001 attack. In 2008 things started going really bad and 25 banks closed, most after August Financial market collapse. Last year 140 banks closed. 15 already this year puts us on the pace to see 180 banks close in 2010. Money is being printed 24-7, unemployment isn't getting any better, Home foreclosures are just as bad and now the commercial market is starting into forclosure. More and more I am hearing about car repos and credit card defaults. Every major town has its own version of "tent cities" popping up under bridges and around the towns. We live in a fairly small metropolitan area of approx. 1/2 million people and the "homeless" population probably exceeds 2500. There isn't hardly an exit or entrance ramp to the expressways around town that doesn't have at least 1 or 2 people with signs that they need work or food, or please help them as they are Homeless! Everybody stop and take a minute to be thankful for what you have, and don't fret so much when our stocks aren't doing as well as we would like. It could be a lot worse ! There now I'll get off my soap box and back up in my eucalyptus tree !!!!! JMHO, koala
