VANCOUVER, Jan. 12 /CNW/ -- Smartcool Systems Inc. is pleased to announce that its Australian distributor, Smartcool Systems Australia Pty Ltd., has been reporting increasing levels of success within the Australian market.

In the first of these successes, Smartcool Systems Australia has been granted approval for the second stage of trials within one of Australia's four largest banks. Following on the recent successful initial trial phase with the group, which in fact resulted in larger than projected energy savings, a second segment of trials has been set to commence within the first quarter of 2010. This trial will see a roll out of the Smartcool product range on larger air conditioning units, and chiller systems, within the bank's network - with the trial including up to 500 air conditioning systems.

The progression of this project follows yet another successful trial phase-again with another member of the Australian banking 'top 4'. This particular roll out - now entering its second phase - will see approximately 800 systems being installed across its Australian network, with the possibility of even further expansion pending successful energy saving verification results.

Another vertical showing increasing potential within the region is that of large scale Australian gymnasium chains. Following on from a successful trial phase with one of the country's larger gymnasium groups, Smartcool Systems Australia have been requested to provide proposals for the second stage of a national roll out, whereby an additional 220 systems will be installed across the group's complexes within early 2010.

Smartcool Systems Australia CEO, Chris Rogerson, has attributed the distributor's current success to the recent pre-qualification through Ecospecifier for NABERS, as well as the obtaining of a Greenstar building rating. Rogerson went on to add that NABERS - the southern hemisphere equivalent of the certification required by the US Green Building Council's LEED program - has effectively lifted the profile of the Smartcool business and product range within Australasia. This, coupled with the recent completion of multiple high profile installations within the region, has given Smartcool Systems Australia Pty Ltd. increased recognition, throughout the various local industry verticals.

Based upon the above recent progressions, as well as the increasing success being recorded across Smartcool Systems' global network, Smartcool Systems Australia is expecting several national rollouts to commence within both Australia and New Zealand in 2010, as the company's product range continues to prove its ability within the global energy efficiency market.
