I have heard that Snowfield needs 0.5 carats per tonne, with an average diamond value of $100 per carat. That equates to a value of $50 per tonne of kimberlite.
IMHO, this is a fairly low hurdle for them to reach in order for the mine to make good economic sense. Of course, the location of the Mud Lake deposit is everything to do with this.
Still, no matter how low the hurdle is, it is a hurdle just the same and I hope that the forthcoming results prove the deposit to be well above this minimum value requirement.
