IEA recently released its World Energy Outlook for 2009 but such report was overshadowed by a story in the UK's Guardian newspaper about certain unnamed IEA whistle blowers. They apparently reported that the future world production forecasts are inflated and unrealistic but are being published as such under pressure from the US government. The Agency denied the story so it has not been verified although the Guardian's story was corroborated by ASPO International's President, Kjell Aleklett who reported that he was told the same story off the record several years ago. Time Magazine mentioned the Guardian piece in the context of a larger article about an energy crisis as the research ends.
Interestingly enough in Don Coxe's Basic Points "white paper" for November, he recommends that his readers overweight Canadian oil sands stocks within equity portfolios. While he doesn't mention specific stocks, I know that in the past he has liked SU (Suncor) and COS (Canadian Oilsands Trust).
Ps. Can someone tell me easily how to loose the picture of the guy on my comments. Chris thinks it is confusing folks and given the size of my high heels I am no guy thank you very much!
