I think it's too early to tell whether this is just a shot across the bow, or the start of some long consolidation. I'm going to wait for either a slam down or a MACD buy signal on the hourly GDXJ before buying. That may come at the close today, or more likely sometime tomorrow. Whatever I buy, I'll be looking to sell on any decent bounce.
