I have been wondering where Big Pharma has been while tiny Generex (GNBT) has been plowing ahead with industry changing technologies. Namely, it's buccal delivery of drugs with its test case of insulin, and its cancer vaccine technology.

Today, August 5, 2010, Generex announced that Dr. Craig Eagle will be joining its scientific advisory board. Dr. Eagle was raised in Australia, and in 2001 joined Pfizer Australia. He is expert in oncology, and was brought to the U.S. in 2003, and is the head of oncology therapeutics at Pfizer (PFE). He will bring his expertise to the trials Generex is conducting with its AE37 vaccine on prostate and breast cancers. This is good news for cancer sufferers everywhere, and good news for Generex shareholders.

I have asked where Big Pharma has been for months with regard to Generex, and now I have my answer. They are on the case.

I don't pay much attention to technical signals, but I rate this a fundamental buy signal, albeit a speculative one, since we don't have any Phase III completions. Pfizer should be interested. I thought they would be paying more attention to the insulin delivery system, but I'm going to take this announcement as awareness of all of the company's potential. This focus on the vaccine technology of Generex reinforces that the company has the depth. It is a double threat, but it will only take one of the technologies to work to make shareholders wealthy.
