You vocal Canadians should give yourselves a pat on the back. BNN can say what it wants now as an excuse but it did call him controversial. Anyhow here you go....and Kim I know you will be on alert for the video to post it!
Cancellation of GATA Chairman Bill Murphy's appearance on Business News Network in Canada this coming Friday afternoon resulted from a misunderstanding at the network and his appearance has been restored to the network's schedule, a BNN executive producer said today.
Last week GATA's broadcast scheduling agent was informed by another BNN producer that Murphy's appearance had been canceled because GATA was "too controversial." But e-mailed protests from GATA supporters got the network's attention over the weekend and in a telephone call today the executive producer of the "Trading Day" program told Murphy that the network welcomes discussion of controversial issues and still wants to interview him. That interview now is planned for 3:15 p.m. ET Friday, the eve of the Toronto Resource Investment Conference, in which Murphy and your secretary/treasurer will be participating. (See the link to the conference's Internet site below.)
BNN has an excellent program archive at its Internet site so with luck people who are not able to watch the interview live in Canada on Friday afternoon will be able to watch it soon afterward on the Internet. We'll call your attention to it.
We're very grateful to everyone who contacted BNN to urge the network to reconsider the cancellation, and grateful to BNN for its openness to telling GATA's story.
