Message: Meaning of synergy - philsophical so ignore if not into it

Given the one year anniversary of this blog and George's compliment to all of us for our positive and well informed postings, I thought I would chime in (I'd say croak but that has a multiple of different meanings of which I'm not too fond.) So to all of you buddies of mine who continue to share their thoughts, findings and winning ideas, I want to share what I read today at 5:oo a.m. appropriately discussing the meaning of "synergy" before I shuttled off to work:

"WE ALL MATTER

Synergy is when the whole is greater than the sum of its parts. And creating positive synergy means having the right people, in the right place, at the right time, focusing on the right goal. After World War II, Chester Nimitz, Chief of US Naval Operations, wanted to keep alive public interest in naval aviation. As a result the Blue Angels Navy Flight Demonstration Squadron was created and performed its first exhibition within the year. To this day the team has clear objectives. They select only qualified candidates who consistently operate at peak performance. After being carefully screened, a pilot must receive 16 votes from the existing members. If one votes no, the candidate is out of the running. No reasons or explanations required- that's the level of trust and respect the members have for one another's judgment. As a Blue Angel your teamates become like your family, and when a new memeber is enlisted your're entrusting him with your life. Making the squad isn't a one shot deal either. Your're responsible for playing your part, demonstrating your value and pursuing excellence on a daily basis. You have to earn the right to wear the crest. Nothing short of total commitment is accepted."

So there you have it....a definition of synergy. The only thing I was not real fond of was the reference to the color blue. I think Green Angel has a much better connotation!
