With D-Box Technologies Inc. recently completing a $15-million financing and securing three more contracts, the Canadian company looks poised to get more butts in more of its moving theatre seats than ever before.
Sameet Kanade, analyst with Northern Securities, figures D-Box will have installed 1,050 seats by the end of the year. The three seat agreements, in New Jersey, Quebec and Florida, have a combined potential of more than 3,800 seats if deployed across their entire platforms.
“With the financing out of the way, we believe D-Box is adequately capitalized to aggressively meet its customers’ deployment requirements, especially within the capex intensive North American region,” the analyst said. “The recently announced Cineplex agreement provides us with another benchmark to support our estimates, which imply that demand for D-Box’s MFX systems will maintain its linear trajectory.”
Management’s target for March 2011 is 2,500 seats, implying another top-tier theatre chain will sign on with D- Box. This would be the catalyst needed for the stock to move higher, the analyst said.
Northern Securities maintains a Buy rating while raising its price target to $1.50 from $1.25.
D-Box, based out of Quebec, markets motion technology that ties theatre seating to motion signals embedded in movies, TV shows, and video games. The seats have begun to pop up in theatres in North America and in Europe, and are also available for home theatres.
