Message: Idea's. Help.

Hi everyone,

Just wondering if anyone has idea's about an E-Bay purchase I made living here in Canada. I think I have made another ROOKIE move. I purchased some Gold American Eagles online over E-Bay. I was very happy with my price and purchase, until I dug deeper into the duties and getting them over the border from the US.

The problem is that they are not .995 pure and then not exempt from HST. This was a minor oversight on my part, but one could easily make. The coins are 1 troy ounce of gold (31 grams), but they are also mixed with other alloys for wearablilty and actually weigh 33 grams. This brings down their purity and the Canadian Government doesn't include them as tax exempt (as far as I have been able to find). This seems crazy as they are fine gold.

Does anyone have any idea's or similar storie's that can help me out. The HST is very signicant and void purchasing the coin's this route, as it make's them very expensive now, and way over the price they should cost.

Thanks,

Ryan
