I agree completely with Kaiser - Venture is dying largely due to algo trading. And I see no chance of that changing anytime soon. The traditional year-end bounce was about as weak as I'd ever seen it.
Remember the large 2010-2012 head and shoulders pattern on Venture? At the time I felt the neckline (around 1350) would not break or the pattern would fail because the expected move would take Venture down to 400. That just seemed to defy common sense. Not only did the neckline break, we had a failed test of it last fall.
I'm not expecting it, but I no longer think it is impossible for Venture to collapse all the way down to 400. Regardless of where it eventually bottoms, I don't think the junior resource space is a good place for retail investors (myself included) until something significant changes. This could be a large gain in commodities prices, or some rules changes - I don't know. But until then, I'm selling this stuff - and playing on better turf.
