I can see how investing in juniors these days can make people crazy. Took a look at Peter's blog a few days ago. He was praying to God to help his portfolio - how pathetic is that?
I've always considered juniors as trading stocks, not investing stocks. There are just too many unknowables (configuration & grade of ore bodies - every ore body is unique, political risk, mine construction costs, potential mining problems, future prices of metals, etc, etc). And overlaid on this, you have financing issues, high-frequency trading, and general stock market conditions. It just seems to me that investing in these stocks is no better than investing in a day at the casino. And even people with some inside information (e.g., Peter), are simply getting killed in this market.
That said, I love trading juniors at times when they are hot (like the latter half of 2010). But right now the trading volume in the Venture is less than 25% of those days (in dollars it's less than 10%). Take away the high-frequency trading, and Venture is essentially comatose. Other sectors and markets are working well, so I see no reason to be in junior resources right now. Some day the trading volume (which indicates interest in the sector) will return - then it will be time to step back in.
