Strait Gold Intersects 134 metres of 0.29% Copper at Alicia

Toronto, Ontario CANADA, March 29, 2011 /FSC/ - Strait Gold Corporation (SRD - TSX Venture), is pleased to report final assay results from a 2000-metre drill program at its Alicia copper-gold project in southern Peru. Highlights include:

* 134.0 metres of 0.29% copper, 0.03 grams per tonne (g/t) gold in hole ALC11-16, including 9.75 metres of 1.27% copper, 0.07 g/t gold and 0.032% molybdenite; and,

* 18.5 metres of 1.25% copper, 0.15g/t gold, 13.3 g/t silver and 0.012% molybdenite in ALC11-17.

"Hitting copper-gold mineralization over these widths in our first drill program at Alicia is very encouraging," said Strait Gold President Jim Borland. "While our primary targets are outcropping skarn zones, the property also shows good potential for porphyry-style mineralization similar to other porphyries in this very prolific copper belt.

"In 2011 we will follow up on the skarn mineralization because of the exceptional copper and gold grades, and we will further investigate the porphyry-style mineralization because of the potential of porphyries elsewhere in the belt to form large deposits."

The Company is planning an aggressive exploration campaign at Alicia for 2011 including airborne geophysics and stream sediment geochemistry over the entire 26-sq.-km property, detailed soil geochemistry over the central portion of the property and additional drilling to delineate the skarn mineralization as well as to further define the porphyry potential.

The results summarized in the table below are from the final three holes in the 15-hole program: ALC11-16, ALC11-17 and ALC11-18

Hole ALC11-16 tested the west end of skarn Zone 1 on the southern contact of a porphyry intrusive while holes ALC11-17 and 18 tested skarn Zone 5 on the eastern contact of the intrusive and the porphyry itself. Hole ALC11-17 was drilled at a 60-degree angle through skarn Zone 5 and into the porphyry. HoleALC-11-18 was drilled vertically from the same platform as Hole ALC11-17.

Hole ALC11-16 was drilled from the same platform as previously announced ALC11-15, and intersected two skarn zones from 32.7 to 78.5 metres and 92.9 to 94.3 metres as well as a brecciated skarn zone between 127.5 and 132.5 metres. This breccia zone contained strong copper mineralization in the form of bornite with minor chalcocite and assayed 2.42% copper, 0.36 g/t gold and 19.9 g/t silver.

Hole ALC11-17 intersected skarn mineralization from 18.5 to 37.0 metres that assayed 1.2% copper, 0.15g/t gold, 13.3 g/t silver and 0.012% molybdenite. The copper mineralization is dominantly in the form of bornite with lesser chalcocite. Hole ALC11-17 also intersected variably altered quartz feldspar porphyry between 34.2 and 240 metres. The porphyry contained quartz veinlets and stockwork, as well as disseminated chalcopyrite with minor bornite and molybdenite.

Hole ALC11-18 intersected weak skarn mineralization between 105.6 and 107.7 metres and a second skarn breccia zone between 215.93 and 230.05 metres. The hole also intersected quartz feldspar porphyry with similar characteristics to that in hole ALC11-17.

In addition to Holes ALC11-7 and 18, several other holes have intersected porphyry-style mineralization or alteration on the property including Hole AL-02 and ALC-10-08.

Approximately 250 metres to the northwest of Hole 17, historical hole AL-02, which was drilled by a previous owner in 2003 into the quartz feldspar porphyry, intersected 0.11% copper over 100 metres between 52 metres and 152 metres. Alteration in AL-02 consisted mainly of potassium feldspar veinlets, and weak biotite with associated magnetite with copper mineralization dominantly in the form of chalcopyrite.

Previously announced Hole ALC10-08, which was drilled to test a skarn zone approximately 250 metres north of Hole 17, also showed porphyry potential. It intersected 0.11% copper between 19.5 metres and 74.0 metres in altered quartz feldspar porphyry before entering the skarn. The main copper mineral in Hole 8 is malachite which is associated with quartz-sericite alteration with variable magnetite.

Strait Gold has an option to earn a 100% interest in the Alicia copper-gold property situated in the Andahuaylas-Yauri copper belt approximately 500 km southeast of Lima. This belt contains a number of important copper and copper-gold deposits including Las Bambas (about 40 km west of Alicia) and Antapaccay (about 80 km southeast of Alicia) in which Xstrata is investing an aggregate of US$5.7 billion to develop. The belt also includes the Haquira copper project (about 40 km west of Alicia), which was recently acquired by First Quantum Minerals, and the Constancia copper project (about 60 km east of Alicia), which was recently acquired by HudBay Mining.

Quality Control and Quality Assurance

Logging, sampling and splitting of the drill core is conducted at Capacmarca by Strait Gold personnel. Samples composed of one half of the split core are securely stored in a locked room prior to transportation to Cusco by Strait Gold Personnel. Samples are delivered to the ALS Chemex office in Cusco and forwarded by ALS Chemex to Arequipa for sample preparation. The resulting pulps are sent to its laboratory in Lima, for analysis. ALS Chemex is an ISO 9001:2000 registered laboratory. Samples are analyzed for gold by fire assay followed by atomic absorption spectroscopic (AAS) finish and by gravimetric finish for samples exceeding the upper limit of analysis (over limit). Silver, copper, lead and zinc, together with 30 other elements, were assayed by inductively coupled plasma-atomic emission spectrometry (ICP-AES) following aqua regia dissolution. Over-limit silver (>100 ppm), and copper (>10,000 ppm) samples were re-assayed by AAS. Strait Gold routinely carries out a program of quality assurance/quality control (QA/QC) that includes insertion of blanks, standards and duplicates into the sample stream to verify results prior to dissemination. Strait Gold will send approximately five percent of sample rejects to a second laboratory for check analysis.

All of the Company's exploration programs are prepared by, or prepared under the supervision of, Dr. Roger Moss, P.Geo., who serves as the Qualified Person as defined by NI 43-101 and is a director of the Company. Dr. Moss has reviewed the technical content of this news release.
