LONDON, ONT - Strike Minerals Inc. (TSX-V:STK) (the “Company”) is pleased to announce results from a recently completed mapping and sampling program on its Missanabie Gold Project. Work focused on stripping and trenching to extend the Main Showing Zone as well as sampling of the West Dog River Zone. Works was performed on the original “Nicholson Property” as well as on four claims recently optioned from Chalice Diamond Corp. and Abitibi Mining Corp. (see Press Release dated March 31, 2009). Recent chip sampling of a cliff face at the West Dog River Zone returned a grade of 9.76 g/t Au over 2.4 metres including 16.5 g/t Au over 1.2 metres and channel sampling of historical pits returned assays as high as 2.7 g/t ppb Au over 0.6 metres.
“We are extremely pleased with the extension of the Main Showing Zone which continues to be our top priority on the Missanabie Gold Project. Both the Main Showing Zone and West Dog River Zone remain open along strike due to significant overburden and will be further exposed with trenching and/or drilling in the near future.” comments Company President, Denis Crane. In November, 2008, channel sampling of the Main Showing Zone returned a weighted average grade of 14.77 gpt Au over 1.5 metres for 57.3 metres in the south-east portion of the zone, and 8.95 gpt Au over 1.5 metres for 16.3 metres in the north-west portion (refer to press release dated November 20, 2008). A Diamond Drill program completed in May, 2009, returned assays as high as 98.43 gpt Au over 0.46 metres (see press release dated June 9, 2009). Recently completed trenching/stripping and geological interpretation reveals that the Main zone continues to the north-west an additional 27 metres before entering overburden, and has been exposed 60 metres to the south-east within a newly excavated trench which returned assays as high as 2.9 g/t Au. The Company views the extension of the Main Showing Zone as highly significant and believes the zone has potential to continue to both the north-west and south-east. The company is currently reviewing all data with future plans to further expose the zone on strike.
