Regarding your fear of gold taking a beating:

In december 09 gold was at 1200 and TRE was at 3 with a 5 million short position.

In August 10 gold was at 1200 and TRE was at 6 with little over a million short position and just getting ready to be pumped to 7.50 by the - now - again well over 5 million short TRX fund.

This fund has met his match, just like in late 09.

"it"doesnt need to happen in the next few days. We need to hold the bottom here, which we are doing just nice with three hogher bottoms on the daily and then we cross the 5, 10 and 20 day moving average.
