In further research to try and account for the flurry of stock trading activity in Troymet this week, I came accross an August 8th article in Mining Weekly that I found interesting. It indicated that HudBay was still very interested in mergers and acquisitions and especially to feed their smelter in Flin Flon, Manitoba, which is where Troymet's McClarty Lake project is located (and Troymet's JV partner on that project is a wholly-owned subsidiary of HudBay).
Here is a quote from that article: "With its Trout Lake mine scheduled to close in mid-2011 and uncertainty over when the Chisel mine will restart, the company needs to find additional concentrate to feed the Flin Flon plant."
Also, as mentioned in my previous post, VMS Ventures has discovered a magnetic anomaly similar to the one where they previously made a discovery (the Discovery Zone) that is 10 times as large as the anomaly used to locate the deposit at the Discovery Zone. This is on property that is close to Troymet's McClarty Lake project claims.
HudBay already holds the largest land position in that entire Flin Flon area. So, it may be that HudBay has an interest in acquiring Troymet, and news of this interest has leaked out.
