Before getting worked up about Iamgold:
Questions:
What is the political situation in Peru? How investment friendly is it?
What is the general socio/economic situation in Peru? (because this can spur dramatic political change)
Peru (at least to my thinking) has some very mountainous terrain, and has third world infrastructure. Could it be that the logistics weren't looking that good?
Wasn't Iamgold involved in some property-swapping to improve economies of scale with Goldcorp, Barrick, and other players? I've noticed a lot of that in recent months. Is this one of those properties? I think their new corporate plan was to try and focus on certain corners of the world instead of being spread out all over the place, same as Goldcorp.
I'm not too sure it's good to compare a project in Peru to one in the Northwest Territories.
